The problem

A solo founder ran an entire company, covering mission, market sizing, cap table, fundraising plan, deck outline and outreach copy, inside a single long AI chat. They never copied it anywhere else. One day the thread was gone from their history with no route to recovery. The habit behind that loss is common: the chat is where the thinking happens, so it quietly becomes the only record. A chat history is built for retrieval of recent conversation, not for custody of the decisions a company rests on. Nobody notices the gap until the day it matters.

Why now

Long context windows and saved-conversation features have made it practical to keep one thread going for months, and founders have taken the invitation. The thread now holds decisions that used to live in a doc, a spreadsheet and a deck. Providers can change retention, retire a feature or close an account, and the founder has no contract promising the history stays. The behaviour has arrived well ahead of any habit of backing it up.

What it is

A two-pane tool. On the left is the chat; on the right is a Company Brain, a sectioned document where each decision from the thread is filed under mission, market, cap table, milestones, pitch or outreach, with a version stamp and a link back to the message it came from. One button exports the whole document as a plain file you own. The demo shows that flow end to end on a scripted sample. Matching a message to a section is a fixed script in the demo, not a model. It reads no real chat and has no provider import, no sync and no accounts. Those are the hard parts and they are not proven here.

Who it's for

Founders at the zero-to-seed stage who do their planning in conversation and have no operations person to impose a filing system. It is not for teams that already live in a shared workspace with page history, where the thread is only a scratchpad. It is also not for enterprises with data-retention policies; their problem is governance, and they already have a procurement process for it. The first user is the founder who has just realised how much sits in one thread.

How it makes money

Not yet, and that is deliberate. The promise is custody: your record is yours and exportable. A product that sells custody while locking the export behind a plan would contradict itself. The likely path is a small individual subscription once there is automatic capture, because capture and versioning have running costs and manual export does not. We reject selling founder data or running ads against it, since the product's only value is that it is trusted with the most sensitive file a young company has.

Go to market

Start with one audience: founders who have written publicly about losing work in an AI chat, and the startup communities where those stories get shared. A tool that answers a story people already told is forwardable by nature. Offer the export file as the free entry point, and let the single-page demo travel as a link inside those threads. Concentrate on solo-founder forums and accelerator cohorts first, where one satisfied member can reach thirty peers in a single message.
